I’m wondering what all those extra custom dedicated ISP chips are for.
Qualcomm and all that still talks about the big game on ISPs inside their platforms .. what’s the need to use one more external one? the integrated one is not good enough?

Current Android phones from big brands like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have almost no hardware innovation from the companies themselves (perhaps with the exception of Vivo’s gimbal technology). Look at the Mi 11 ultra, the find x3 Pro, the Oneplus 9pro. All key components are sourced from third parties. With Huawei’s ban, it’s time for other big brands to try to bring in hardware innovations. Otherwise, they all basically stack the same basic material from the same vendors with little to differentiate them.
