Have two phones. A oneips phone and an OLED for 4 years, both powered by 855. Both heat up very quickly even in cold weather on average non-reference tasks. The OLED has burned so much that it is difficult to read the texts. If anyone takes phone for long term use then always take ips as I tried my best but OLED always disappoints long term. Plus I now have a full blown migraine

I will extend the life of my phone by using custom ROMs haha. Currently on Android 12.1 PixelOS for Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G.

I bought my Samsung A52 in November because my S6 Edge was boring with slow interface and low battery. And finally, the low volume of my high-end Jabra Elite 85t headphones forced me to buy a new phone. A52 is quite good. A user interface is truly amazing. Battery life is loooooooong.

xocomaox, 10 hours agoAt four years old, you are missing out on great promotional trade-in offers in the United States. It’s just… moreMy sister here (not in the US) traded in her S8 bought in 2018 for a Flip 3.
S8 + pay 65% of Flip 3 price = Flip 3 + galaxy watch (latest model).
The phone was in very good condition, but the screen was very red.
She plans to do it every 2 years.
Phones have gotten so good over the past 5 years that upgrading isn’t as necessary anymore. And our different needs towards them diminish. For example, I don’t need a phone with a lot of internal storage or even a microSD slot because all my photos and my favorite movies and TV shows are on multiple Google Photos accounts when downloaded by a Pixel 3. I get the unlimited storage saver option. And if it’s not there, I can stream it from apps like Netflix and Spectrum TV.
My Motorola Razr 5G only has a Snapdragon 765G which is only as powerful as an 835 from 5 years ago. And I can’t see myself having a problem using it for the next 5 years or more! That means I’ve been using a flagship SoC from 2017 for a decade and have no problem using it for that long. Also, I’m just tired of moving all my content from one phone to another. They are essentially all the same. It gets boring like MCU or any cookie-cutter superhero movie.
Phones will never leave me with that impact like the first iPhone 15 years ago. It’s more of the same every year. Nothing revolutionary. Telephones are already perfected.

Anonymous, 14 hours agoI hope more users commenting on tech sites will keep their phones for at least 20 months, it’s not… moredon’t worry they know the new fourdragon it’s crap.. and hard to get d8100/d9000 in world market.
b
people cling to their phones and wait for the return of headphone jacks and SD card slots 😉 at least I do…
I
as phone prices rise, more and more people just won’t renew year to year or even 2 years given the current global issues, iPhone series, for example, is expected to greatly increase the price of its $100 handsets in September, citing rising costs blah blah, when should a $450 phone be sold at $1249 for the pro max variant? this will no doubt travel across the industry for other manufacturers

Nothing to do with Covid or inflation and anything to do with phones coming out is trash. Many of which are downgrades from 2021 predecessors
there
I like how they contradict each other in the same paragraph. Stocks are piling up, and like magic, because the supply is improving, sales for the next few months will improve too!

I hope more users commenting on tech sites keep their phones for at least 20 months its not worth buying a new phone every year just because they think the new SoC will be better for them stupid games when the quality of a 2022 flagship is the same provided by 2020/2021 flagships.
